I can't resist to post another item by E.T.Drost.Before she became a glass designer, she had designed china figurines. And this figural candle holder is a stage between china and glass in her work.
It is one of the series of glass candle holders representing variety of folk characters from different countries.
Thnks for looking!
This is FABULOUS !!!!
Very Impressed !!!
Can you tell us more about the other designs ?
Is this a Polish costume ???
This candle stick is commonly called "Karolinka",what associates with Silesia region in south of Poland. There's also a Mexican girl http://retro-bibelot.pl/pl/p/MIODOWY-SWIECZNIK-FIGURALNY-MEKSYKANKA/960
I can't remember now if I've seen others
Thank you mikelv and Sean for the loves and vetraio for the love and comment :)
Fantastic & at first I thought it was a odd shape bottle. Even better it still having a use.
Amazing how the candlestick is imbued with character......don't argue with me!
She is just wonderful!
beautiful!!!
I love figural pieces Ivonne, and yours is a beauty!!!
Dear Zowie, sklo, racer,Sean and Rick thanks so much for your comments :)
Thank you all for the loves:)
Peggy, don't her hands on her hips remind you the blue vase?
What a beautiful piece!
Thanks Virginia:)
Yes, Ivonne.....just the same angle! We'd say the figurine is standing 'arms akimbo'.
Also may I ask why you post some of your vases in glassware? I'd think they were Art Glass. This is why I'm late to your posts....I don't look at glassware regularly. Peggy
Peggy,I have sometimes problem with categorizing wether the items are art if they are produced en masse and they are pressed glass. In this case I could put them in art glass too as they were designed by artists.Next time I will pay more attention to categories .
Ivonne, my take on it is that if they're the work of a known designer it's Art Glass. I do understand your reservations, though, when it comes to pressed glass. A simple process yes, but some designers do wonders with it.....as you know!
Peggy, thank you.I'll follow your point and I'll be more consistent in it :)
Thanks AB for the love:)
My pleasure Ivonne At first I thought it was to put candles out. Thanks for the show & tell
