Need help verifying if this is the same Marzi of German Lava Vase pottery or a different person altogether. The marks I have seen for Marzi and Remi are much different and are more like stamps then a signature.
This vase is about 11.5" H x 7.5" W x 3" opening. It is stoneware glazed with greenish brown, darker brown, even some red - all somewhat random over the vase. It is almost like the green gets slowly covered by the darker color with a some splashes of red. And then there is the juxtaposed doughnut sticking thru the cylinder vase. This outward growth, meanders around the vase, with a shape one may see if it was created by water- smooth and directional- and it also has some dark matte brownish black glaze on some parts only, like a slow oil slick. It's funny, now that I am done describing it, it sounds like it should considered a lava vase. Does anyone agree? And about the signature, am I reading it right? Is there more than one Marzi?
Please help all those out there who have definitely more knowledge, especially as an aggregate, give me some insight as to what I have here.
Thank you in advance of course, Christina
I don't see this as being fat lava, myself.
The Marzi of Marzi & Remy goes back to the nineteenth century: Anton Marzi
