Lithographic Poster Print "Carmen" by Marc Chagall.
Dimensions: 26" x 40"
Edition of 3000.
The work was created in 1966 from a maquette for Chagall's "Triumph of Music," a series of 2 large-scale decorations created for the Metropolitan Opera House in New York (one being Carmen, the other, The Magic Flute). A small inscription in the lower left states: 'D'Apres Marc Chagall - Ch. Sorlier Grav,' indicating Charles Sorlier as the publisher of the piece.
Considered one of Chagall's most magnificent works, Carmen is an example of a musically rich and historic tradition to which Chagall wanted to pay homage. It is an impressively large-scale work whose color saturation and rich texture is unparalleled.
Just a WONDERFUL addition to your great collection !!!!!
Thanks Vetraio!!
We have a piece that looks identical to this piece and wonder if anyone knows an accurate value.
Chief 1am it depends if yours is signed or not. I know this piece being unsigned is valued around $350.
