    katherines…
    (247 items)

This figurine is rather large, 9" tall. No markings, feels very light, maybe chalkware? If so, remarkably undamaged. Partly no doubt because of the thick legs and large feet give it a good balance. The only figurines I found similar are vintage and antique German bisque. The outfit she's wearing looks maybe 40s. Any ideas as to era? And is it bisque or chalkware? Any thoughts, ideas, theories, suggestions, hypotheses, happily accepted. Thanks for looking.

She's cute Katherine :) I agree with SD it does have a Hummel look. Definitely not chalkware though. That's heavy and solid like plaster of Paris. She looks more bisque to me since it's not glazed.

Thanks for the love, surfdub66, and mikelv85. :)

Surfdub, I didn't want to say so, but Hummel did come to mind, thank you! :)

Mikelv, thank you for the compliment, she is cute. And thank you for the clue, so if it's heavy, it's plaster, if light it's bisque, now I know! :)

Hi katherine - I have a figure similar to that - these are made in Germany, and they are a sort of "Poor Man's Goebel". Pretty sure they are bisque. Mine is a little girl standing in the wind with a black dog by her side - a rather large figurine. She also has no markings. Mine is also undamaged, aside from a few paint rubs, and dates from the 1940s or 1950s. Found her in a second hand shop earlier this year.

Ah, thank you for that information, very useful! What is the range of value, if I may ask? Or where can I find out more about these figurines?

Thanks for the love, Trey, Manikin, and kivatinitz. :)

Thanks for the clue, kivatinitz, you go along with Efesgirl, then, so may be on to something. :)

Thanks for the love, SEAN68. :)

BTW, I saw a strong similarity in this figurine to the Erich Stauffer figurines. Those are Japanese, however, and since the experts on here seem to feel this figurine is German, I tend to believe the experts.

This site says that all Hummels were marked except when they had no base. The figurine in the above picture and mine have no base.:
