While on a trip to California last year with my wife I couldnt resist doing a " little looking around" and asking about old porcelain signs, gas pumps and related items. After many questions to many people in many places, we were directed to an old guy about my age that had a huge yard full of old plastic signs he had gathered over the years. None for sale of course! As I gradually convinced him to let me peruse his place of memobibilia, I found these old CONOCO sign frames that he had forgotten about that were in the bottom of his iron pile along with a couple of old fluted gas sign poles. My blood ran more rapidly as I tried to find the right way to convince him to sell me the poles and frames. Zero luck with the poles as he had promised those to his son who lives in Colorado, but he did agree to sell us these sign frames with a couple of other frames! ZOWIE! We hit a gold mine posing as a coal mine. We used two of the frames for signs we already had and still have these cute frames while we look for the signs for them or trade them for other frames for signs we have like our 6' frameless Phillips sign. Life is long and the Fun is in the Hunt and the people we meet sometimes become lifetime friends. This old guy is one of them and we speak almost monthly now.
