This is one of Lalique's many birds: in French he is usually called "rapace" which translates to "bird of prey" but I've seen similar listed as baby bird or owl more often. Cendrier means ashtray but trinket tray and ring tray is the more common description these days - presumably to be more inclusive and politically correct. The rapace mostly in frosted glass, is a delightful Lalique design, beautifully detailed to show great charm, and character.
The base is engraved in script Lalique France
which suggests it probably dates from the '50s or '60s.
Approximate measurements: 2.75 ins (7 cms) tall; the tray is 4 ins (10 cms) in diameter.
