This is one of the many examples of peasant jewelry that originate from the Netherlands called: Zeeuwse Strik which were hung on the sides of the hood/hat belonging to ladies peasant costumes. On the photo you can see such kind of jewelry wearing in double but also wearing single. Nowadays these jewels are still wearing by ladies in original peasant costume and can still be seen in some regions of the Netherlands. This is the last generation women wearing these costumes.
This 14K yellow gold mentioned: Zeeuwse strik has two hallmarks one sword for 14K the other most probably the maker finely decorated with filigree wirework . Filigree is a delicate kind of jewel work made with twisted threads usually gold or silver or stitching of the same curving motifs. The pearl is a natural one (what kind of pearl I don't know).
The jewelry measure including bail and pearl 5 cm long, 4.5 cm wide and weight 5,7 gr.

How interesting! Thanks for posting this!
I have a great book on similar antique type of jewelry (with filigree wirework, but worn on the clothes) in my country - worn with the traditional clothes. In the book they are talking about similarities in this type of jewelry in the South and North of Sweden and Norway and the elaborate on the fact that the reason is influence through trading routes that goes a long way back in history, when silver- and goldsmiths from north germany sold their jewelry at markets in the North of Norway and the south of Sweden. Some jewelry was importet but so was also influence and style as smiths from Germany came there to work and smiths from Sweden/Norway went to Lubeck to learn more. You can see the same influence in parts of Denmark. I can´t post photos here but I will send some photos my email to you if you are interested. These traditional jewelry is something I would like to collect more of. It´s a good thing to save them as they might be at risk of being melted down when people don´t want to wear these traditional clothes anymore.

So this lady is from Zeeland?

I've heard you can tell a Catholic from a Protestant by their dress too, true?

That is a piece of bloedkoralen snoer?

Is she from Zuid-Beveland near Goes?

One other question .... I've been looking for the Dutch term for 'kissers' ... the gold coils on which the 'Zeeuwse strike' hang.

vetrai050 thanks for your dutch comment. I must admit i realy don't know if there is a difference between Catholic and Protestant. This could have been in the past. But nowadays there are no more so much differences and also the number of belivers has reduced immensly. This peasant costume is of Walcheren and it's a piece of the hood Please take a look at my comment. Thank you very much for your knowledge and your Dutch words!

      Thank you Agram for sharing!
These are pieces of folk history, and as Elisabethan said, most will be melted for gold content :-(
Fantastic to see these worn in full attire !

Elisabethan thanks for your comment and love. I appreciate you love for traditional clothes as I do. Besides the fact that these pieces are important in the tradition of a country and also in the tradition of jewelry often this kind of jewelry they are really beautiful. So it is very important to keep all this and cherish. So we share the same opinion about this fact.

kyratango I share the opinion of you and Elisabethan. Moreover they are part of tradition and also nice jewelry which can be used on "normal" clothes and also important in history of a country. We all are really interested what's behind the jewelry. Thanks also for love.

vetrai050 thanks again for your interest and question. As answer for kissers mentioned by you is the Dutch name: Krullen. You can find them with a picture on this site: https://www.pinterest.com/margarueter/zeeuws-meisje/
Perhaps interesting to hear the Dutch name : krullen translated into English is curls. And what you see are really curls is it not?
I hope this is what you meant. Otherwise please let me hear and I will look for the right answer!

If these pieces go out of fashion I hope that some are going into museum collections and such. And perhaps some could be made wearable by using as brooches or incorporating into neck pieces. Just hoping the don't get melted down for gold value and such. Thanks for sharing and collecting and preserving!
