Not really my field, but would guess at #1 & 3 as Japanese around WWII era & the last as late 1850's thru 1900 & possibly a little later. Be interested to hear what people who know this field will come up with.

I agree picture 1 looks WWII Japanese.

picture 2 is a WWI canteen from the Austro-Hungarian empire.

      I'm at a loss over photo 3

As Scott said, the third photo is US, Spanish American War era. I think the regimental marking is H Company, 6th Regiment, canteen number 53, but not sure.

Chrisnp, "I'm at a loss over __# 3". You have a reputation to keep up on CW! Has that Nippon look & doesn't appear hand made. Is it really wood? Current wooden canteens aren't that common. Maybe late war?

#3 style looks German, but composition and hardware leaves me clueless. Japanese? Possibly.

Number three is a WW II german canteen. It is a tropical model, developed for the Afrika Korps. It is made of a treated wood, has a wool cover for insulation, and the strap is canvas instead of leather which would better withstand the hot climate. The cup is bakelite. Near the end of the war this type of canteen was found on all fronts.
