While driving in the county about 20 years ago, I saw a yard sale at an old farm . This gun was on a table along with your usual yard sale things. I am not a gun collector, but this thing naturally caught my eye. Just as I was about to go around to the other side of the table it was on , another guy
picked it up and was looking it over and I thought " It's gone now! ".
To my amazement, he set it back down and walked away .
I asked the elderly gentleman overseeing the sale what he wanted for it . He rubbed his chin and said "It's an old one so I gotta get at least $20 for it ".
It is missing the main spring and a couple of screws and looks like someone filled in the holes where the barrel pins are.
Trigger guard marked 1 KGLD C/64
Perhaps acquired by a GI in one of the world wars and brought here to the U.S. ?
Would take a hands on inspection to make sure it is original. Looks good but the "KGLD" I've never seen any such marks. Never seen anything like it on a Tower in that area.
In past correspondence with Mark Hawkins of The Lanes Armoury, the markings identify this pistol as being : 1st Kings German Legion [Light] Dragoons Troop C Pistol 64
He stated that less than 10% of the 1000's of pistols he has seen are regimentally marked.
Here is #29 and 31:

beautiful!!
TA's thread was a treat & helps clear things up & I learned a lot as well. Now, just remembering it! Senility has it's advantages, - - - I just can't remember what they are! If you want to send it to me for a free appraisal (even COD) I can send my address. Really nice piece, - - - that would look good in my collection.
blunderbuss2- I would prefer to deliver it in person if you could provide airfare and lodging (and food). TA's input was indeed a treat. Thanks to you and everyone else at CW. A great place to be !!
Thanks Sean.
Paulmartin, I can supply lodging & food. Ticket's on you! Cheaper to just send it! I'll pay the COD charges. Do you know where I live? Ck my profile. Really nice here.
What a find:)
