I'm trying to find out how much these molds might be worth. There are 6 or 8 boards....and many loose pieces. I know Florenza is a collectible costume jewelry line, but haven't a clue as to what this collection of molds might be worth. Thanks for any help!
How did you come across these? If you don't mind me asking. As far as a value, its hard to say. Are all the molds signed? I can not remember if Florenza had copy rights to the name or any of the designs but if they did it may be hard to sell. The best place for objects like this is a museum. That's just my opinion but what a neat piece of fashion history! Lucky you!
I have to ask him again who he bought them from, but a antique dealer friend bought them back when Florenza went out of business. He never did anything with them until he sold them to me. Yes most of the loose pieces are marked and the boards have the pieces glued on, so I don't want to pry them loose. It looks like they are grouped by perhaps style numbers? I don't know if anyone is working on a history of Florenza, but it would be an invaluable tool for that.
How were these molds used ? Did they pour melted metals into them or what ? I have never seen anything like this before .
I suspect they were the lead alloy prototypes that they made the molds from...
