The items shown are those of a antique or vintage gigantic clam shell. Measuring 13 3/4 × 11 3/4 × 11 inches, the item is made of a large sea shell and a metal peacock . The peacock, accented with long legs and feet at the base of the shell atop the neck and head, is atop the shell, is possible made of silver, brass and gold plated.
I was fortunate to locate this item while browsing in one of my favorite junk stores in New York City.
