I'm just trying to find out more about these chairs, I think they actually came from a Sears Store in the 50's, but I'm not sure.
I like the look of them though, they have character.
Okay, not Victorian; so it's Bannister Chair; I'm seeing Early American and it looks like these. | ||

Hard to date.
This style became popular at the very end of the 19th century, but they are still being made today.
Some details may help to date them. Close ups of the bottom of the chair, joints, hardware and any markings MAY help to narrow the date.

Thanks Scott, I will take a look and post if I find anything, but am I right to say they are designed in the Victorian Style?
I do not think that is Victorian. It could be the era but doesn't seem the style. Victorian tends to more pretentious and this looks a bit rustic.
I could be wrong, furniture isn't my specialty.
I guess I should have looked into types of Bannister chairs first;
Sheraton
William and Mary
and Early American
New question, does anyone recommend a good book on styles of chairs?
Well William and Mary are out, I definitely think they are Early American.
I have always called these "pressed back chairs". The origin can be traced to the late Victorian era.

I would agree with them being 1950's unless the seats have been rebuilt. Probably had a punched out five point star for the seat from what I see.
As for being a press back. Press back chairs are either single or double pressed. Single press being the oldest. The crest boards aren't clear enough to see but if they are actually press back they would be considerably older if single press. The pictures are clear enough to show they are not double pressed. It is possible they have been reworked.
