I bought this at a rummage market for less than a $1.00. I am guessing at the age - early to mid 1800s. Holds about 2 qts of liquid. No chips, cracks or any other damage. It does have some bubbles in it, but that is part of it's charm. It is a bit primitive, but it's one of my favorite pieces of glass.

I missed this when you posted it. What an interesting piece of glass! What makes you think it's that old?

katherinescollections - simply by the way it was made. The bottom is concave rather than flat and the break point was not cleaned up. The pitcher wasn't made in a mold because the lip was formed by hand and bubbles are visible throughout the pitcher. I bought it from a fellow who probably went around to containers and house clearances and then sold whatever he had at the flea markets.

I like these old pitchers, rim decoration was very popular in 1850-1890.
      Thanks for this :)

Thanks, Vintage_Joe and surfdub66! I have quite a few pieces of glass, crystal and ceramic items. This pitcher just looked so unloved, sitting all alone on the shelf at the flea market... :)
