This necklace is so amazing and unusual, I just had to purchase it. At the time, I had no idea what it was I was buying but instinct told me it was something special. Indeed it was.

It comes from a very respected family of the Zuni Tribe out of New Mexico.

All skillfully hand made by Virgil Dishta Sr. & his wife Lena, signed V & L Dishta. Although the channel inlay is beautiful in and of itself, what makes it more unusual and yes, I will say rare, is the heart as a drop pendant.

Virgils' father, Frank Dishta is famous for creating this design called 'channel inlay' which is highly desired by many serious collectors around the world. "Channel Inlay" is now known as "The Dishta Style" design, carried on as a tradition throughout the whole Dishta family.

It's awesome to own a true piece of history.

Thanks, I hope you enjoy this.

Thank you racer...love it too ;) I really need to go to the book store or library so that I can find more dependable information on the Dishta family. I've found a lot of it contradictory.

Beautiful Zuni jewellery. Their silver and turquoise are superb. This is gorgeous, so delicate. I have a belt buckle, which was my mothers, bought in the '70s, made by Cheama. Very different style to this but also exquisite.

LOL! Hey Mary! I was just doing some research and from a google search, this item came up so I decided to take pictures of my pictures here. I think I deleted every one i had!

You are so right about the signatures. And I am still learning more about this jewelry all the time. The creator of this style, Frank Dishta, didn't often sign his pieces I'm finding out and that's a real plus anyway because you can just tell they were made by him and he used natural turquoise, not much of that going on these days. I really wish I would have kept this piece but like I said, I'm still learning. It's said that a learnt lesson is better than a told one! So true.
