Got this at local estate of what appears to be a WW2 USN Dress Blues shirt. This has a few patches one is the USS Constellation. The other I believe is a radioman but I'm not sure of the actual rank and of this piece does all look authentic. Also does have tag made by Centre Mfg Co. Size 50L 100 percent wool and soldiers name and service No.

Thanks Kath I meant sailor not soldier oops not meant to show any disrespect for all the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for us all past and present.

You're correct, the rank is radioman first class petty. The gold hash marks indicate 12 years of good conduct (4 years for each); continuous 12 years of good conduct were required for gold. The USS constellation was launched in October 1960, so this would not be WWII. I made several cruises on the Constellation in the 1970s at the end of the Vietnam war.

I salute and thank you for your service, TallCakes, and for correcting me re the hashmarks, I actually realized my mistake about the five years/four years, and came back to correct myself and expand on my remark but you beat me to it.

Some information to help in dating military clothing for future use:

Usually the tags will contain a number that will reveal the date of manufacture.

I am not that familiar with Navy clothing, but can speak on Army clothing-- once you have examined a few pieces, the date is easy to pick out.

Here is an example with an Army Dress Green that was made in 1956 (4th line shows date it was made):
