metal military coffee pot or cooking pot with inserted cup

I am not sure what this is or the age of this item. The cup fits inside the pot. Because of the metal and handles, I think it is a military item. The bottom of the pot looks like it has been over a fire, which makes me think it was used for boiling water or making coffee. Any information would be appreciated.
