    Hi all,

We bought this horse bit over the weekend. We don't know a lot about bits, but when we looked up the buffalo head design, the name Buermann popped up more than once.

On the center bar, there is a star imprinted on the right hand side, and it looks like there is the letter "A" inside the top point.

There are also two words on the left side of the bar. The second word is definitely "patent." The first word is hard to read. We think it might start with a B...

If there is anyone who can provide more information, we would appreciate it.

I personally call this design a breaker bit but that might be just me. You can bring a horse to it's knees with these & rarely necessary to use except for incorrigible animals.

Interesting...does the star mean it is definitely a Buermann?

I have no idea but maybe somebody else does. I kept 5 horses & the snaffle bits were good for 4 of them. Now Mike could only be controlled by this style!
