I have a good friend to thank for pointing me to this one. A decor I have not owned before now, Vulcan is a fairly subdued decor, but often applied to unusual forms. This was made in 1903 for E. Bakalowits Söhne of Vienna, and bears the Commission designation of 85/5146. The last photo is from Ricke band II, the musterschnitte. This piece measures 4 3/4" high. The entire piece is UV reactive. On the previous page in the book there is another form similar to this (85/5111) which is a K. Moser design. This one may also be one of his, or the firm took a cue from his design on their own. As Warren has suggested, this particular piece was blown with "optisch" ribs, very subtle but indeed there. Vulcan optic then.

Love it, Dave, especially with the little wing attachments :)

Congrats on a really nice find

I guess technically, this would also qualify as "optisch". :)

Agreed Warren. In person the optic feature isn't very evident, although in the photos it is.

Thanks for the loves and comments everyone. I have wanted to own one example of each (affordable) decor I could find, and would often replace a piece with a better form when one came along, but this one is a perfect shape and won't need to be replaced.

love how applying a few little pieces of glass can make such a difference.
