PLEASE SEE ALL PHOTOS, and then maybe someone can tell me something about the maker. Says deeply impressed into the back SPOON, preceeded by a round circle with something in it I can't make out even with my magnifying glasses Then after the block lettered word "SPOON" It says USA 4028 space then PWT ( means Pewter) That must be the "Hallmark"--which impresses me.
There are notes flying upward onto the open top of the grand piano NICELY DETAILED CAT AND PIANO!
This piece is heavy and would be only O.K. for a Coat or Sweater. Measures just under 2 inches long and just over 2 inches high. pewter-- And I wonder also about the jewelry designer-maker.--as well as approxmate age. I haven't ever seen anything like it and it is so sweet!
Oh! It's stamped and Hallmarked "USA" and piece is marked PEWTER The PWT in the Hallmark. I found the info at the site that has the maker/designer SPOON Jewelry which is all Hallmarked. It is not metal, Also it is not made from a spoon altho maybe some of their pieces might have been. As I mentioned this is not lightweight, brass, lead, tin and antimony is the composition of the pewter--so you couldn't wear this on a blouse--just a sweater ot coat. I think it is a cutie... Thankfully it is a good piece and they gave a price which I am not allowed to mention here. Thanks anyway--I LOVE CATS!! Have toooo many!! Ha Ha.
I decided to give the pin to my daughter who has 10 cats--They built a special screened room addition to the house for the cats with a doggy=door so they can come in--They love it out there tho, Toys, climbing things, lounges, pillows, and out in the yard HUGE desert tortoises to watch!! She has photos of the turtles nose to nose at the screens. SOOOOO funny!!
Oopps, meant to say the box the pin is on has been with me at least 40 years! It is cloisonné and I think it goes back to the 1800s.
