Two rather extraordinary examples of glass at our convention this year that I thought I would share since they were so unusual. The bambus vase was so beautiful in a deep blue. It was nearly 18 inches tall. The flames are outlined in silver as is the inside of the top. You really had to see it to appreciate it. The other vase which we could not identify was equally beautiful and rather large, about 8 inches tall. Spectacular color. Lots of other glass, but these two take the cake! And no, I didn't get either one.
The Bambus is gorgeous. The other décor is referred to as Sea Urchin. NIce example of that also.
very nice...
you lucky duck, youre on your road trip again...pls let me know of your travels when you can...I will write too...
These bits are beauties, look at the size of that one!!!
Dave, the vase on the right is the Kralik 'Sea Urchin' decor, I believe. These are both terrific vases!
WoW !! dig that Big Bambus! ...
A Czech collectors Convention that must be close to heaven!
Heaven might be a little bit of a stretch, but if you like glass, Iowa was definitely the place to be this past weekend. Lots of glass, with pottery and perfumes thrown in for good measure. Great talk on Ruckl by Debbie Truitt for good measure.
LOVE the Bambus.....I did not make the show this year...how was it? any more pictures to share from the show?
Anyway you can get me more photos of that bambus piece?
I'll be putting show pictures on the club website at czechcollectors.org when I find time to size them. Bob and Jerry from Nashville have the piece. You should have their email in the directory. If not, send me an email. Bob said it wasn't for sale, but he might send pictures.
I have seen many pics of Bob and Jerry's collection from Patty F.
I would love to spend a week with my camera and their collection, for the purpose of documenting some pieces they have. Their selection and assortment is amazing..... and I think they have many pieces that would fill in gaps in the research of Welz, and other Deco Era production.
stunning vase !!!!
