How big is it? Do you know what the material is? Is that a thread I see thru the nose and mouth? Tell us more please. Is it a mask, or solid head.

Thanks for your question. The material feels like sandstone but I've not seen the reddish color before? It's only about 7" high and 5-6 wide. Not a real string thru nose. I never noticed the line that does look like a string? It's too small for a mask ? It's seems like a solid piece of sandstone/rock type of material. Thanks any more ??? Let me know

Looks like a replicaof a shrunkin head--maybe a wall plaque conversation piece. eeek! Does it have a way to hang it. ? Some people do enjoy the macabre--Could be a casting from a real shrunken head?? This is a mystery.

Lol! Thanks for the comments. It's a weird mystery for sure. I came from the wife's Morher's house and Grandfather before? Wife says its sandstone. It does have a shrunken head look? But it's still sandstone. I thought it might be an American Indian sandstone carving; but what an ugly looking face style. At least 60 years old as the wife can remember. It's was found together with my wife's Mother's Amber necklace. Go figure. Then not to tell any of the kids as to where it came from. Thanks Cliff ( both her parents have passed away so we can't ask anyone for info!

It looks like Peru or Bolivia...maybe a casting from the ruins if Inca cultures? I really like it.

Thanks!! It's been in her family before she remembers. We are 65. years young now! You could be right about Puru or Bolivia?! The family was pretty well off $$$$. So it must have been important for her Mom to keep it in her jewelry box with her Amber necklaces and rings?' Thanks. If I get it ID'd I'll sure let you all know! Thanks Cliff 2012
