Some old sheet music is very special--This was published simultaniously both in Italy and France in 1909---Kind of a spoof on a famed opera. It is brighter and more contrasted in real life, but there is no editing available at this site. Too bad--it is simply gorgeous. Size 11X14 inches. Unsigned art, but the imprint is by CG RODER, Paris

The illustrator is H. Viollet-Douhin and published by Casa Dotesio (Madrid) in 1909.
Viollet made more then 100 sheet-music illustrations. See http://www.imagesmusicales.be

OH! MY GOD--Everybody over to the link, but I have to note the style of my sheet --dainty, understated, gentle and in pastels seems completly opposite of what is shown there. My sheet is not signed.
Can the artists among us take a look at the link and compare to my sheet music art. Can it be the same artist?? Opinions, please. Thanks to PeePee for adding to the beauty and excitement of French music covers so long ago, and far away.

Gillian---I am thrilled!!! Yes indeed H. Viollet-Douhin IS absolutely the artist of my sheet music--My sheet is shown in the catalog. This artist is a talented representative of the ART NOUVEAU style and YES, worked in pastels. I have tears in my eyes the covers are so beautiful Gillian, how can I express my thanks to you for finding this for me??? Amazing I ended up with one--seems they can be very pricey!!! I would never sell the prize in my sheet music collection tho. I really ought to have it professionally framed..

Thank you PostCard - all I did was follow the leader by clicking on PeePee's link. He/She is the one that deserves all the credit.

I'm thrilled that you are thrilled to find the cover that you had saved for so long. Would love to see it framed. btw keep it out of direct sunlight, just a suggestion if you are going to frame it use non-glare glass.

      http://blog.imagesmusicales.be/douhin-a-nice-illustrator-from-nice/

At the very, very bottom of this page is a small paragraph regarding any/possible relationship between Andre Douhin and your Viollet-Douhin. (Last para before comment section)
