1915 The implication in the text is she doesn't make enough money in her secretarial job to pay for all her fancy clothes and jewerly, etc--and implies subtley that she has a" suger daddy" A real insult in 1915!! These large valentines.this about 9X8 ( with McLaughlin Bros logo, known for colorful kids books) are very collectible for their wit and wisdom of the times... This subject should have been taboo--but not to the "penny dreadful " sender the cad!( Now known as "vinegar valentines) where just about anything was said to insult the receiver of one! NOTE THE VINTAGE TYPEWRITER UPPER RIGHT! This is rare.
Picture too small and cannot be enlarged.
