Two carved ivory cylinders, open at both ends with separate same size rings and top. When all the pieces are stacked they look like two small jars, about 3inches tall, but they can't hold anything because they're open at both ends. Does anyone know what these are and how old they are?
    Thanks!

I don't think it's a brush pot because the cylinders are open at both ends and the height is only about 3". Have you ever seen a brush pot that looks like this? I'm not knowledgeable at all but just using common sense. What do you think?

Hi Jim, Many thanks for the very interesting information. Do you have any suggestion of who might know what they are? I inherited them, but have no idea of where they came from originally. Can you hazard a guess at their age? Could they have something to do scrolls? Thanks!

Jim, if you have a moment, would you take a look at a teapot and a vase I posted today? Thanks!

      Excuse the intrusion, monica.

Hi Jim, I changed the photos so you can see another scene on the cylinder. Thanks, Monica
