Hi, Another question I hope someone out there can solve. Thank you very much.
I forgot to say it is 5 inches tall and 5 inches across. Thanks!
The heart is the Reed & Barton date symbol for 1956
I believe this is Biltmore Hotel ware - possibly a Sherbert cup, there would be a glass bowl insert.
Should be "may have had a glass bowl insert"
Did you try finding the pattern/piece on Replacements? Reed & Barton produced silver for The Biltmore Hotels, finding the pattern might lead you to the piece.

Thank you, everyone. A sherbert cup! Wow, I would like my sherbert served in a bowl like this! But a cup makes sense because it isn't a goblet, isn't a candy dish...I forgot how popular sherbert was back in the day. I will also go to Replacements and have a look around. I didn't realize they handled silver. Thank you very much. This site is so helpful and you guys are so wonderful. Kathryn
No luck at Replacements. :/ I sure would love to find another one like it on the Internet with some information about it.
It believe it's a small pewter compote. Maybe used to serve ice cream, berries. Try searching pewter compote.
A compote!!!! That's not a word I hear everyday, but I believe you are absolutely right. Mystery solved. Thank you, Dave and CW!!
