While chasing off to Nevada to put together a Sign Trade we ran across this beautiful old Clockface Tokheim pump lying out in the weeds behind a barn. My heart raced as we inspected the pristine original condition of the pump & was trying to decide how to approach this old farmer to sell us his pump when I well know that he has never sold anything to anyone. When you have a ranch of over 4000 acres you really don't need the extra space that a pump takes up. Then there is the issue of $$$ which is a Non issue with this family either. Just as I was making him what I thought was a great offer to sell us his gas pump, he notices that the irrigation water he is carefully watching has suddenly breached over the bank so he hurriedly excuses himself and runs off in his backhoe to contain the water. That obviously ended all negotiations for the time being! Oh well! It will still be there when/if we get our next invitation to return to the Wild and Woolly West of back woods Nevada! Keep on Hunting as that is where the fun is anyway! To increase the excitement of this foray, I spotted a 4' green snake crossing the road out in the middle of nowhere. I slammed on the brakes to go back and see what we had passed and saw him slithering off into the desert. Not to be out run by a snake I chased him as fas as I could go and missed him time after time while my son sat laughing at the charade from the truck. Finally I caught the green racer only to have him reach up to taste my forearm, but I luckily had seen him opening his mouth a bit prematurely and dropped him back to the safety of the desert floor. Another little excitement to keep us awake for the long trip home.

If I thought hanging around would have made any difference I would still be there hanging around. These old Ranchers are real tough guys and aren't very sociable and don't much like outsiders so with them "less is better". Some time and creativity looks to be my only option, but that is not a lot different than fishing in the hole where you know a monster fish lives. You gotta have just the right bait at just the right time & present it in just the right way. That's why the Fun is in the Hunt
