Have you ever seen a thimble like this?
I acquired it at an antique auction recently.
I can't find another one like it anywhere online.
I got smart and took pics under a magnifier.
Doing more research I found that it's from Birmingham Englad.
There is a Makers Mark DE, there is also a lion symbol.
Normally makers marks and dates using symbols were done on Silver.
This Thimble is Not silver, nor any kind of metal.
It may be porcelain.there is a signature hard to make out what it is.
This might be ivory, or bone. Taking it to the 19th Century in my research.
The most puzzling for me is the fact the top is smooth and does not have the little normal thimble dimples. It is also flat on top.
Is it something other than a thimble?
Please look, and see the new pictures.
Would love to know what it is and what era.
