A few days ago, I found this airline placard with the following inscription: "The Commencement of the First Single Carrier Service -- Denver - St Louis. Frontier Airlines, June 8, 1967."
There is a metal figure resembling St Louis Gateway arch.
Wood base construction with gold lettering.
Plus, an 1883 silver dollar in center. --- Not a bad find in that I paid 50cents for this item! --
I don't see the connection between the 1967 award and the 1883 silver dollar. Any guesses?
You have a Great Find there, and it is always nice to pay less than the face value of the coin for it to boot! Very Nice!
My wife has one of these, her Dad was with Frontier Airline as a Station Manager. It was presented on the Day when you could first go up in the Arch. She became a member of the "Top of the Arch club". This was a big deal for Frontier Airlines and apparently they had these commemorative little arches made just for this.
One little correction--My wifes is Dated June 29, 1967 and says " The commencement of the First Non-stop services -St Louis-Denver" Frontier Airlines
Wow, what a lovely follow-up. Thank you for the informative posting. Super interesting!
