This porcelain and gres figurine is the flagship of the entire Borsato production. It is made in several versions, compositions, sizes and colors. There is no other figurine like it in the line. There is a unique history which if all was written it could fill a book. And interestingly it was the first figurine that launched his art production and his last figurine before his death. That last figurine was enlarged greatly as a commemorative special series which was introduced at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Borsato came with his daughter to Chicago for the presentation of the figurine to his most dedicated collectors. Shortly after his return to Milan he was killed in a car accident. Many versions were made over the years and far outsold any other figurine in the line. And many collectors have speculated over what the obsession was about this figurine and its various versions. There were at least 15 versions in which the numbers and titles varied. One very unusual and unique characteristic Borsato had was his insistence that every figurine was different in some way, and each PGP was therefore unique in composition or color or both. It was and is unheard of among the major figurine makers.
very interesting your history
By "gres", do you mean grey or "gris" as in French?
