German transverse machine the decals are in lovely condition and the flowers are mother of pearl. I think this machine had been stored inside as it was in very good condition when i got it with no rust on the machine or the base and the shellac coating near perfect. the table/lid which i think are walnut needed varnishing as they looked sun damaged and a new handle added to the lid. it has no makes name/mark on the machine or the treadle which is typical of these machines - although it would be good to know exactly who made it but it does have the Company badge of J. Silberg of Hamburg. One the distributors of Hengstenberg Sewing Machines. i would think it dates to around 1900. An added bonus - it happened to come with around 50 unused and very rare size 13x1 needles which fit perfectly and it sews a lovely stitch although even the widest stitch i consider to be small.
