We have wanted to put this cute little Bede 5J up on the roof of the Sinclair Station ever since we finished painting it and put the pilot in the seat. Finally we took the wings off and hoisted it up on the roof in to its new and permenant perch. I found this very cool plane while on vacation in Hawaii while I was lying on my hammock and perusing the Craigslist ads of Eastern Idaho. I know it sounds strange but the truth is that I am strange so get used to it & you might like it. Anyway, I saw the ad for this very cute little jet and sent the pix to my son in Utah and asked him to buy it for us. He called the guy and soon came to a fair price & we became the owners of "the smallest jet in the world". These little planes actually fly at 325 mph and are awesome planes. James Bond flew one in the movie Octapussy & flew it through a barn. While he was not really the pilot, the stunt actually did happen and the real pilot did fly through the barn. You can see pix of these planes flying on Utube and they are amazing. This one took over 2000 hrs to build and get it to the stage where it was when we bought it. We paid about $.05/ hr for it, but did have to finish it ourselves. The planes are pretty rare and only about 150-175 are still flying we are told.
The fun was, once again, in the hunt, but also in the roof top display at aaaLakeside Storages Free Museum. It looks very cool from the street out in front as you drive by as well as from inside the Museum. Some are beginning to say I'm eccentric but I don't think so. "Wadda U think"?
Eccentric to some, normal here at CW!
Love your stories.
