I have no idea as to the age, or maker. The whales on the side rails interested me, and I hope to cut a new piece for the top. It was horse hair, straw, jute, and 6 springs. It's all walnut.
Trying to repair, but need a clue as to what was on top | ||

If anyone has another one like it, I would appreciate a photo. I need info on what the top piece might have looked like.
This appears to be an Eastlake style chair Here's a similar one: https://www.ebth.com/items/1768548-walnut-eastlake-influenced-side-chair
If you do a Google image search you'll come up with a bunch. Many makers built in this style. Good luck with your repair!
Here's a bit about the style:http://antiques.about.com/od/furniture/ss/aa062706.htm
I have a half dozen, and only a few that two match. Thanks. they seem to have little value. Thanks NY
Interesting chair. I tend to think I would not rush refinishing it. I would say it is 1920's or earlier. What caught my eye are the castors and the fact there are no stretchers supporting the legs. Not even a hole where a stretcher may have been. Just my 2 cents.
