This was the "cap and gown" day for the Wayne 492 Roman Column. We put a globe on it that we had around and since its sits in the shade of a 6' Tydol Flying A sign it seems appropriate to have Tydol faces on it, except we haven't put the metal Globe ring on it yet. We couldn't resist putting the old cloth wrapped hose on it even though we know the sun will destroy it in short order. Yes we are aware that the proper nozzle is the Banana nozzle, but they aren't nearltpy as cute as these bigger nozzles of about the same vintage. We find it interesting how few people that go through the Free Museum even comment on the Roman Column pump? That's likely because they, like me, never saw one at a working Service Station? Just a guess? Perhaps it is because the Museum has a lot of other very rare and outstanding items which also catch the eye? We may never know, but it really doesn't matter because we love it and that's why it is all there. Come on down to Lakeside Storage in Provo, Ut and take a walk thru & bring the family. The Lake and Provo river are next door and there's lots for all ages to do.
