Found this Plateelbakkerij de Distel vase in Idaho Springs, CO a week or so ago. Any ideas on dating? I haven't found anything online. It has the de Distel mark and perhaps a 6 above the mark. (reposted to include mark)

      Plateelfabriek Thistle
      Tile tableau Station Rijksstraatweg

Plateelfabriek Thistle was a Dutch pottery . The plant was in 1895 founded by James M. Lob and was established in Amsterdam .

Lob focused on the production of art pottery and drew the design and paint its pottery artists in order to give its products an artistic value. [1] [2]

In 1901 took Lob Tile Lotus Bakery (founded in Watergraafsmeer in 1896 by Bert Nienhuis ) from his former employee Bert Nienhuis about. This was the artistic director of "Thistle" and stimulated the production of glaze with geometric decorations. In 1911 left Nienhuis Thistle. The artistic direction came into the hands of Willem van Norden , who has pressed for a long period (after the takeover by Goedewaagen) his stamp on the company.

In 1910 Jacob Lob bought the company " Previously Amstelhoek 'be placed on creating new artistic movements in the company.
The early products 'Thistle' are like the art nouveau pottery of Rozenburg . Influenced by Nienhuis the designs became more stylized. Nienhuis and Van Norden also designed several Art Nouveau tile panels for the benefit of the architecture include the Concertgebouw neighborhood in Amsterdam .

The market for art pottery was after the First World War not favorable and Lob decided to sell his business. In 1922 took Goedewaagen from Gouda Company "Thistle" and expanded its plant at the Towpath out in Gouda, so that the entire production of 'Thistle' in 1925 could be moved there as well actually go. Norden was the artistic director of the new pottery business. He would remain committed to the beginning of the sixties of the last century to the company. The forms by 'Thistle' designed even after that time at Goedewaagen in production. [1]

This is an old Distel-Plateel vase. By old I mean made at the start of the factory. They did not use a stamp at the bottom, but scratched, like here the name Distel and 3 crosses (the Weapon of the city of Amsterdam). Actually Distel was a specialist in Tiles. Big Tile-compositions(tableau) in Art-Nouveau/Jugendstil houses, inside and outside they made wonderful things. You bought a beauty.
