I have quite a few piece of lead crystal, but this has got to be my show stopper. I bought it this afternoon from one of the local thrift shops and paid just a few bucks for it. I still have to research it, as I have never seen a anything quite like it. No name on it but definitely vintage, as it has the normal wear marks on the base from gracing someone's table. There is only a very tiny bit of wear to the gold leaf. I am guessing that it's Italian glass. It's somewhat on the large side. I washed it and placed it safely in my display cabinet.
Measurements across, from point to point: 6"x 6"x 7"
Height at highest point: 7"
Jump in if you know anything at all about this sculpture. I have not yet found anything at all which resembles this abstract glass.
That is just magnificent, efesgirl, wow!!! I hope someone here can help you with the ID, good luck, and nice find!! :)
Lovely!
@katherinescollections and Rick55 - it's a cryin' shame that it doesn't say Lalique on the bottom....so glad you like it!
Hi!..Efesgirl....can you post a photo of the base, it tell more about the base than anything...you will have take one of your photos off because as you know we can only load 4...:-)
@inky - there's a photo of the base up now. Tell me what you think.
It certainly is very good quality...I wonder if it may be Italian...there are many experts on here, hopefully someone will come along and solve the mystery for you...it's so frustrating isn't it...but! wonderful when after the search and research you finely find out...very good luck..will be watching!!...:-)
@inky - It could be Italian, I suppose. A photo search turned up zero. It seems to resemble an oak leaf. I hope someone recognizes the design. Is this considered to be a bowl? I dunno.....!!
When I have a bit of time I will try and see if I can find anything out for you...:-)
@inky - thanks! I will keep looking, too.... :)
Well I took quite a look around and didn't find it, the closest in similarity was a Lalique bowl, not as beautiful as yours, in my opinion.
Lovely piece of glass, i really love the gold plate on it, do you see lot of wear on the base, also just wonder, if you can add the measurement in your post, high, wide beetween the branch, this could help for ID the piece. :-)
@Alan2310 - I added the measurements for you. There is a photo of the base which shows wear on the gold leaf. It's definitely not a new piece.
@inky - I have been searching Murano Art Glass and have noticed that there is very little Murano glass with the gold leaf on the outside. It all seems to be encased in the glass. I did find a goblet and a pendant with gold leaf design. *sigh*
Hi!.. I found this...looks very much like yours but in 'silver' look whatcha think...

Try Cofrac French glass, it looks very like a lot of French glass I see here.
Full title Cofrac Art Verrerie, I have a similar piece in clear glass,without the gold.
Regards
William
@inky - well, that's pretty darn close!!
@Gracay2004 -Oh boy, thanks! I found one on eBay Ireland that is sooooooo close to the one I have. The gold leaf and the thickness of the glass are pretty much the same. Only the design is different: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Vtg-Mid-Century-Cofrac-Art-Verrier-Wave-Centerpiece-Glass-Bowl-France-Gold-Large-/291030956861
Mystery solved! My gorgeous hunk of lead crystal and gold is French: a Cofrac Art Verrerie piece.
Bingo! Gracay FTW!

Glad to be of service, the shape is sometimes referred to as a "Splash vase", you can see why, but I have no idea if this is the official name given by the company as French records aren't great.

What a great bunch of people - thanks, everybody!
Wow! this is a great one efe!
You've made a great "splash" with this one. So nice.
Great find.
