I was told it is an old port bottle from around 1600. It has a neck repair from unknown date. There are no marks on the bottle. It was found in a cesspool in Delft, Holland. Who can tell me anything about it? What is it worth?

Great "onion bottle". We think 1600's very likely. Nice pontil scar. Can't say a value but they go for $150+ or so at eastern US bottle shows ... pretty clean and undamaged. Markings, seal etc make them highly desired.

It is a Dutch onion (1710-1730). Although they typically contained wine, it might have contained other contents, such as beer or cider. At that time, the Dutch were global traders and Dutch onions are relatively common. There's usually 2 or 3 for sale on E-bay at any time. $150 would be a fair price for a clean, undamaged bottle. However, the neck repair and rough surface would reduce the value significantly. An English onion would be worth 2-3 times more.
