Hello....This is the "Official" Smokey Bear 2" dia. pocket watch by Bradley Time (Division of Elgin). © Official Licensee Forest Service, U.S.D.A is printed on dial above the 12 o'clock marker and Made In USA below the 6. These support a simple "Dollar" watch mechanical movement with sweep second hand. Produced circa 1974. There is a wristwatch variant of these, but the hour and minute hand are shaped has shovels.
Thanks for looking and hope you've enjoyed seeing this one.

In 1974, I just do not recall any firends having even watches, let alone character watches .... Interesting

Eye4, just joking......I wore a mickey watch all through High school, was very common in St. Joseph, Mo. in the late 60's-ear;y 70's to have a Mickey or Large "Mod" style watch
    9. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 years ago
Example of a watch and age category, would be a Cub Scout watch, Brownie watch ect.... ages 8 years old and up

Yep ... I do not think I was in a hurry to have a watch ... That usually meant you had to be somewhere ...
    14. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 years ago
must been your geography,,,,I remember most of my friends having some sort of watch when they were 14-15 years old

Rule on my block ... Ditch the watches .... "I didn't know late it was mom, we were not near a clock !"
    16. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 years ago
Either a watch or ID bracelet was worn by 3/4 of my age group in school

lol....we didn't need exact time....be home when the first street light came on.....
    18. eye4beauty eye4beauty, 9 years ago
Street light rule was bendable .... Leave when they come on? Be home before they are on? Leave when they come on but walk real slow? I forgot to look up ?

Clearly Eye you caused your Mum stress! Always an answer lol.
I don't remember any of us wearing watches until we started work. I might have if character watches were big here but I don't remember them much in Aus.
      Too cool.... thanks Kerry
(Kids these days never wear watches, they use their phone. Booooring)

Isn't there a time period when the name changed from "SMOKEY Bear" to SMOKEY "The" Bear??? I remember an elderly lady telling me that a few years back but never looked into it. Just wondering if you knew.
    28. kerry10456 kerry10456, 9 years ago
Hello shareurpassion, Smokey Bear is always the correct.....in 1952 a song was produced titled Smokey the Bear....the word "the" was to keep the beat...lol Thanks for stopping by
