Now that's a beautiful trunk! Nice work on the restoration...
Did you come across it with the trays?
    2. bjb5859 bjb5859, 9 years ago
Trunkman, NO there were no trays, I build all my own trays , and there wasn't much of a bottom in it either. and three broken slats on the top which had to be completely replaced.
Quite a lot of work, but well worth it
      Thanks for the comments
I,m going to try and post something new every week or so.

Your trunk is beautiful. I think I have one exactly like it except mine hasn't been as nicely restored at yours. It sure looks identical. Can you tell me anything about the trunk. Age? Where it was made, used ,etc. I'd appreciate any information you can give me. I've had the impression this trunk isn't real common. Yours is the first one other than mine that I've ever seen and I've spent a fair amount of time looking on the internet for one. Also how much does your weight. Mine is quite heavy. Thank you so much in advance for any info you can provide.

Here is a link to some info on your Martin Maier trunk.

I believe my trunk to be from the 1880's and this style is rare indeed, and yes quite heavy ,at about 70 lbs.
I would love to see you post some pictures of yours
Thank you for your kind comments
