    (1 item)

I have this very large platter that I am not sure which side of the family it came from .I am trying to figure out how old it might be and where would the best place be to sell it .It is very heavy .I live in the central part of the Province of Saskatchewan ,Canada and there really aren't any collectors here .All I have been told is that it is Flow Blue and I have only seen one other item with this pattern .
I am adding another picture of the mark to help in identifying it .

How old might this be ? Who is BCC Co Ltd ?
    2. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 9 years ago
Well this one has the same mark, but the seller claims it stands for British Pottery Co, and those marks don't match yours.

      Might be a lead, though.

Huh. This has a very similar mark, made by another company. Same seller, in Canada:

Yes I was told it probably stood for British China Company but they were no longer in business when we THOUGHT this platter may have been made .My other guess was that it came up from Missouri with my OTHER Grandfather when they emigrated to Canada in 1909 (they left Missouri in 1909 and got here in 1912) .If that is the case his father's family came from Ireland in 1610 .It was much easier when I thought it came from the other side .There is another picture that I think shows a better picture of the crest .It looks rather sloppy .Like they had trouble when they were putting it on .I suppose it's too late to put it on . I will wait a bit to see if anyone else can recognize it and then decide what t do .I have a realtor coming Monday and a lot of things to sell first .

      Manila is the pattern name...

Yes I have Googled my little fingers to the bone and only found one or maybe 2 plates that looked the same but made by someone else .Maybe I should be asking questions in England but I guess they have access to your site . I must get it moving because I have some others to sell too .My major problem is that I am disabled so I want to find a place where I am not lugging a 20 pound box to the Post Office every day and we seem to have a surplus of Anniversary Rose Ironstone in Canada .

Fantastic work ! That is it ! I believe I saw this once before and even e-mailed them about it because I was looking for information on the company before selling .I believe I can find more information from an item previously mentioned .The question is where do I sell it ? ebay ?
    12. AnitaCL62, 9 years ago
Mystery solved by the person with Luciana on Etsy (Thank You katherinescollections) .BCC Co Ltd stands for Britania Pottery Co.Ltd . Now I will have to do some digging into that . Thanks Again everyone .We still have a mystery .

Well glad if I helped, I thought kivatinitz link was better. Good luck with your information gathering! :) As for selling it, you can list up to twenty items free per month on eBay. Compare what you have to what others have sold and the prices they've realized, then list at whatever your comfort level will allow, especially since you seem to be in a hurry to dispose of your items. List as auction items. The problem with etsy and the other sites is you can't do auction style listings. The upside is you pay a lower fee on etsy and other sites. Hope that helps.

Thank You again .Yes that was a good lead because the plate was exactly the same but the mark was also different and his was BBC and mine is BCC .I did note when I took a quick glance this afternoon that Britannia Pottery Co Ltd was located in Glasgow .That would bring in my late ex-husband's family .Where did the mystery platter come from ??? I did note that my Greydawn Platter is not really worth selling on ebay .That leaves my Anniversary Rose ! YIKES .....

Happens to all of us, believe me.

And no more time to search today ! I hope tomorrow is a better day .And brings us rain to put out the forest fires .We have not seen the sun for days and we are 250 miles southwest .It is terrible .And the poor people who have travelled hundreds or thousands of miles to vacation in the National Park are in the dark and ash .
    17. katherinescollections katherinescollections, 9 years ago
Yes, I've been seeing the photos on my FB wall, terrible. We know all about big fires in SoCal.

Yes I would imagine you do .I have another item I am curious about that I should post a picture of .I am curious to know whether or not I should try and sell it . It is an award gold pin from my Great Grandmother's school in 1861 .I wonder what they made pins out of in those days ???
