Rare Antique hat pin in good condition, with some imagination looks like a wave !
Very fine inlaid lines in red and yellow color , gold, copper? Very nice and rare! Acid tested for silver (not possible to test the decorations).
Presumably silver sign on the pin, but can not define it.
Size: 6.3 cm - 3.5 cm wide
Efesgirl thanks for interest and love.
Beautiful! It's most likely copper decorations. Looks more like a lapel/stick pin. Very nice! If you have a jeweler's loup or small magnifier, try putting it up against your camera lens for a magnified photo of the marks on the pin.
Efesgirl thanks for your useful comment. Welcome on CW board. Zoals je misschien kunt zien ben ik een oude rot in collectors CW land. This is already my 547th post on CW. And that's why I tried my digital loupe, normal loupe (40x) and one even more, but even with that I could not decipher a mark. It could be copper but also yellow and rose gold stripes. Perhaps I try the gold acid test but I must be careful not to damage the jewelry.
"Oude rot"....LOL! I've been hanging around here for awhile, but just recently decided to post more items. I would think that if those swirls were gold, the pin would be appropriately marked to reflect gold content. In the photos, it looks like red and yellow copper. Interesting that the pin head is shaped like a nautilus shell.
Efesgirl, oude rot want ik zit al vijf jaar op CW. It's marked but so tiny that, as I already told it cannot be deciphered. But of course you could also be right the swirls are made of copper but I don't try I'm afraid to damage. Nice to meet a countryman again as BelleEpoque.
nutsabotash6 thanks for love.
Agram.m Ik ben een Amerikaanse vanuit NY. Nu 25 jaar in Nederland. It doesn't matter so much what the swirls are made of, as this is a lovely piece of vintage jewelry. It almost looks like something that might have been made in Taxco, Mexico, but their items are clearly marked and signed. The design is similar to other pieces of jewelry I have seen created by Taxco silversmiths. Their silver is to die for!
Wel I've learnt a new Dutch expression !!! It's a great pin too !!!!
It is wonderful Agram. Almost looks 1960s although much older!
vetrai050 and racer4four both of you also Oude rotten in collectors field to use this Dutch saying (see above) thanks for your compliments and love.
SEAN68 I'd almost forgot to thank you for your unfailing interest, help and love !!
