Lovely oak box which housed some communication device?
Being Ericsson it has something to do this?
It used to belong to an electronics technician so maybe he had some other use for the insides?
An antique expert told me it was from around the 1900s.
    The base is around 7" x 6".
There are hard rubber or some kind of bakelite feet under the base on all corners, couldn't put another pic on to show.

Looks like it held a magneto, a hand cranked generator.

Definitely what TubeAmp said. Looks a lot like a ringer box but there aren't enough holes in the box plus the schematic. Interesting item.
