This tile sidewalk mosaic graces the entryway at 219 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, PA. Though it's seen better days, the thought put into, and the craftsmanship involved is still quite apparent.
This building, though appearing sound, is scheduled for demolition. Thus, it was a good time to capture the image. Hopefully, rather than meeting the wrecking ball, someone may have the inclination and cash to rehab this building. There is a first floor commercial space, with two apartments above.
Hi, v-50…I appreciate the love!
Hello, Dave,,,thanks for the love!
good evening, aghcollect…..your love of this post is most appreciated!
So sad to see these great buildings get old and neglected. Thanks for taking these pictures ! Things change so fast and we soon forget the details . Imagine the pride of the owners and workers who created such beautiful buildings ! Working toward the promise and dreams of a better world someday !
Hi, val…thanks for the love and thoughtful comment! One of my fantasies is to find a mosaic sidewalk with my house number and to have it placed in front of my door. But, I'd much rather it to remain in its original place with its original building :)
Good evening, Paul…thanks for the love and for the wonderful comment. I'm trying to get as many old buildings photographed that I can. Sometimes it's a challenge, but always worth it.
Hi, fortapache, thanks for the love!
Greetings racer4four…I appreciate the love!
Hello, Mani…..I am grateful for your love of these images!
Ted ... It's getting harder and harder to visit the neighborhood where I grew up ... It's all coming down ....
Yes, eye4, that is true of a lot of neighborhoods, sad to say. What with the "renewal" programs, and social disintegration, it seems as all is being lost….. :(
Sean, my friend, thank you very much!
