A couple of years ago as my wife & I were on a road trip to Billings Montana, we decided to take the "back roads" and see the beauty of America on the way. Of course that would include some Sign & Gas pump chasing along the route. As we were driving up and down every street in the little town of Afton Wyoming my wife shouted at me to check out this cool Chevrolet sign on a guys garage!!! Zowey!!! I could not believe my eyes! This was on a garage above the door on a little gravel street to no where and in nowhere Wyoming! Of course I knocked on the door and met the owner of the sign and found out that he used to own the Frontier Bulk Plant as well, but that he had sold all of his pumps and the other cool signs were long gone except for this one that went along with a 57 Chevy he has in the garage that is a nice restored vehicle. Over the many months we became good friends and would speak on the phone every couple of months. I even had a guy from Southern Utah call me on his phone wondering who the true phone owner was as they had found it on the ground at a State Park where he had accidentally left it. We made arrangements for it to be left where he could go and pick it up.
Many months later when he was out fishing on a nearby lake and the fish weren't biting, he gave me a call on his cell phone while I also was on vacation in Hawaii and asked me if I still wanted to buy the Cheverolet sign. I almost fell off the hammock I was lying on as I coughed and sputtered that "I most certainly did want the sign". We made our deal over the phone and I sent the check that day. Today we finally decided to mount it along side the Shell signs on one of the Storage buildings at aaaLakeside Storage. We love this sign and made a great lasting friendship along the path of finally getting it. The fun was in the Hunt, the Find, the acquisition, and the Display of this beauty.
That's the best part of wandering! Making new friends.
Awesome sign!!!
Thanks. We fell in love with this sign the moment my wife spotted it on the Wyoming garage. Finding stuff in the wild is the thrill of thrills for us as it is for you. To actually be able to buy the sign was a dream beyond dreams for us!
Trey,
Thx for the love it
