This is a junk yard find. There is a very hefty sawblade with large, almost semi-circular in shape teeth, that is attached to a handle on its top end and with the lower end kept in a wood guide. Apparently what this gadget is intended to do is to cut something that fits in the relatively small rectangular slot in the middle of the wooden frame. It probably measures 28" tall at the staff holding the handle, and the base of the gadget probably is 30" or so. It belongs to a friend of mine so don't know exactly.
We live on the Mississippi River here, and my first thought is that perhaps it was built to slice the heads off of fairly large fish, which used to be caught in large quantities around here decades ago.
What is peculiar to me are the unusual teeth on the sawblade---their size, shape, etc. However, my friend tells me it was an odd enough piece and in apparently perfect shape so that he just had to bring it home and then figure out what to do with it later! That's where I come in!
Maybe from Git-Mo?
Looks like you are having a cold summer. Sadly I have no clue what that is.
