This is an original 1920's (?) bottle still with about 1/3 perfume left in. I bought it at auction several years ago together with another bottle (see my other entry). There are absolutely no markings on it although it does have the look of Lalique about it. I have been unable to find out anything about the perfume name or exact date or maker of the bottle. HELP!! I don't particularly want to sell it, am just interested in its history. Thanks in anticipation. Ruth
This is lovely...welcome to CW....:-)
love the Japanese script on the bottle !!!
This is another amazing piece! It has the total Japanese look to it. Wait till racer4four sees it...she'll probably be able to help with the id.
im think French glass or English.
Fantastic! In fact not much to do with Japan at all, and earlier than 1930s....1918 in fact. This is what I found:
"Perfume bottle created by Henri Hamm perfumery Eugene Rimmel London-Paris in 1918. Henri Hamm is a contemporary of René Lalique and Julien Viard and was a recognized and valued art nouveau master before he went to work for the perfume industry. Henri Hamm had by 1918 designed more than 400 bottles of perfume that have never been signed, however. This bottle is also used by Madame Girard et Cie. For the perfume 'Perfume Surfin' (labeled). This bottle is in the middle in gold paint painted the name of the fragrance 'Sameyama (Japanese), is on the left "E. Rimmel and Right Paris-London. The gold paint is by holding the vial, age, and by coming into contact with the perfume, partly faded. Equipped with a beautiful large protruding stopper where Henri Hamm to recognize is. Model walks narrow towards the top and edges are decorated with a motif that ends upwards in a shape of an elephant's trunk. The stopper has a star-shaped pattern. The motifs in the pressed glass are gray patina. The bottle is in perfect condition. Book: 'Masterpieces of the Perfume Industry ", page 97 (plate 151), Ch. Mr. Lefkowith.
