This was found hidden under the bottom of a jewelry box that was purchased at a yard sale last weekend.
I think it's brass, no magnet sticks to it and it tests negative for gold. It weighs 54 grams and is 3" tall x 2.5" wide.
I'd like to know the origin/significance if anyone has an idea. Is it an Amulet or just a Pendant? It looks like 2 snakes coming together at the top above their heads. Also, it looks pretty worn and old but it may have been made that way. I was sure hoping it was gold ... It's all good tho. I honestly have no idea where to start research for this piece.
Any ideas from around the world???
Thanks all!
stunning and very fun :)
Thanks Sean. It's kinda cool right. I just can't put my finger on it!
very very cool!!!! your very welcome sue!!! :)
Agree..this is cool. Old or not its charming. It looks ancient. May I ask how you test for gold?
Hi Vfran, I have the acid and a stone. I pick that up at the flea market I sometimes have a booth at. (So much fun)! I have recently been told that the acid goes bad after a period of time, and then someone else told me it doesn't. So, I do need to do some research about that. Anyway, I think if it were bad, the results would show positive not negative.
Have you ever been to a pawn shop? The stone and acid they use is what I have too.
Looks like a sort of fertility pendant. I see remnants of breasts, so am thinking those are women.
No idea, apart beeing ethnic :-)
Cool for a focal pendant!
It's Moroccan or Bedouin or someplace around there and not very old, it probably came off a tribal style necklace.
Efesgirl, I thought the same thing, but the wear doesn't really mesh right. Thank you for your comment and love.
Thank you kyra. Much respect for your opinion! Always.
Davyd286, I can agree with that. I really do think it was made to look old. I have had Medallions that were old and the wear was more even throughout the piece. Yea, this one has to be in the "style" of...
Thank you for your input!
