I have bought an early desk but can not find anything on it. It reminds me of one that I found but it was a Queen Anne's. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Back leg is a little wobbly and a few nicks and dings but otherwise in good condition. It is 20 in width, approx. 3 ft long and 32 in tall.
It is a neat looking desk. The smaller size is great!
The leg style and lapped drawer joints would make me think it is 20th century (probably 1920s).

Your pictures don't expand so it is a difficult call to date this. Picture #2 shows the top folded open and appears to have either SOSS or Blum hinges. They are also called invisible hinges. Getting a close look at those you should be able to date the piece fairly closely. The hinges will be either brass or steel which also makes a difference. Keep in mind during war years metals were restricted except for military uses. The material used and design of the hinges should guide you well as to pre or post war.

Different design hinges were used during different era's as they were improved. Different materials were also used. Hardware can be a great help in putting a date on a piece. Obviously old hardware can be used on a newer piece so you need to look for signs of replacement etc. If an older Soss hinge has been replaced there will be splintering around the hole it seated in. If old hinges were used on a newer piece then you need to evaluate all the hardware along with the piece and it's construction and make an educated guess.
