This deco-era shape by Loetz (PN III-355) was versatile, and was offered in several different sizes and decors. Production documents mention 5", 7", 8", and 10" sizes (and there may be others). This is the 10" variety. This shape and 10" size in Ausf. 157 was used by Michael Powolny at the Werkbund Exhibition of 1914 in Cologne, Germany. The black floral/vine/leaf decoration is very similar to that on a yellow with sky blue vase I posted a couple of years ago, but the flowers on this one are just slightly different. It is marked with the CZECHO-SLOVAKIA acid-stamped oval mark underneath.
Black and white is so Tango elegant !!!!
Simply elegant...Love it...:-)
the simplicity of beauty
Beautiful, Warren. I was an under bidder on this one, and was watching it on pins and needles - I had a feeling it would show up on CW! I am glad it see you got it. :) I personally felt the enamel work had elements of Franz Wilms floral style to it; do you think so, too? I am just curious...
Michelle, I think that is absolutely the case. I'm sure you'll get the next one :)
Thanks Warren, you are sweet; I'll keep trying! :)
