I found this doll at an estate sale this past weekend. It measures approximately 20 inches tall. Having a hard time identifying it as it has no markings on it anywhere. The wig is glued on but it appears to have molded hair underneath. The doll has blue tin sleep eyes with applied lashes, an open mouth and two teeth. I think the doll dates from the late 1930s to early 40s based on information I got from the previous owners family. The doll is in very good condition with only light crazing. I'd like to know the maker and if it would be okay to replace the wig or if I should leave it alone and if the clothing is original.

Your composition doll does date around 1930s . Does she have a cloth body with composition limbs ? I Would leave original wig unless you just want to find a vintage mohair wig for her . Always best to photo the nude as body construction helps . The dress is not her original dress she came in . It likely rotted often made of very light weight material and subject to rotting . So someone made her this dress . I would also suspect she had a original bonnet as wig is not high quality but I can't see back if there is a seam low on wig . Her markings maybe under wig . She is a typical dolly face doll of era and with out original clothes or markings which could be on her back or neck hard to tell maker . If you bought her to enjoy I would put her in a dress you like and if you want replace wig . I however would leave wig . Post nude and back of wig ok .

Thanks for the info I posted the additional pictures. The wig is loose in the back so I was able to lift it a little and there are no markings on the back of the head.

Many of these dolls are found unmarked , But I can tell by wig she originally wore a bonnet with match dress . She sold composition body . Very nice .

I have this doll. My Mom and Dad gave it to me for Christmas when I was twelve years old. She is 58 years old. Her hair is this because of her age. Her original clothes are gone. She is a walking doll. At least that is what I remember her being called. She had red felt in her mouth behind the teeth, but I kind of messed that up by feeding her. Her head, arms, and legs were all connected by a heavy rubber band that broke a few years ago. I had it replaced. Her eyes close when you lay her down. There is no maker name on her so I can't help Identify what company made her, but I do know I was given the doll for Christmas in 1956. She was my last doll and I have always treasured her.
