    Hi everybody,
This little gem has had me puzzled for weeks now. I can't seem to find out anything other than that it is old and that it may have been a cremation ashes urn for a baby or a small boy. My humble opinion (or wishful thinking) is it may be a tobacco jar or a trinket jar.
Isn't it a little beauty though?
Any input would be, as always, greatly appreciated.
    Happy trails :)
Ps. I cleaned it. I know that's bad but I want to keep it myself and it really was quite stinky. The last photo is s before and after.

Someone on CW told about using soda crystals & hot water to clean silver. I have used it & it works well.

Thanks blunderbuss2. Yes, I use bicarbonate of soda, tin foil and hot water to clean silver up usually. I just used a bit of toothpaste and very gentle scrubbing on this.
Cheers Sean68. I thought you might like it.
Hi nutasbotas6, I don't think there is anything missing. I don't quite understand what you mean but the top does fit snugly onto the bottom. I'll try and get a pic of it and post.
Thanks for the Loves, lovelies xx

      Very cool "baby urn" Mand!

"Baby urn" Rick?!! Can you explain?
    7. Hoipolloi Hoipolloi, 9 years ago
Oh, yeah. Baby Urn meaning Infant Urn for cremation ashes. It's a gruesome thought, isn't it? That's why I'd rather believe it's a trinket jar or a tobacco jar. Something nicer. x

I would stick with the trinket jar or tobac jar! I almost told a funny story about a multi-lingual memorial service for a Dutch friend who died & was cremated but thought better of it. Funny story but probably not proper.

      What's the size of this?
    11. Elisabethan Elisabethan, 9 years ago
Could it be an inkwell? Search 'cobolt blue glass inkwell' and you will see many different ones coming up. They look to be small and the coboltblue seams to have been popular in this field. I searched and when I put ' India ' in the search as well I saw a photo of a box like your. I was not able to link to the photo. I can't be sure it was from India.

      Thanks Elisabethan,
I've only just seen your comment above. I'll look into that, thanks. I recently found a brass one that I cleaned up to a sparkling shine and found it had red enamel on. That was from India and the same shape but actually still had a bit of ash in. It was blackened inside though so could have been an inkwell. I sold it that piece to buy some more jewellery but it was nice.

Hello! That's interesting. Your little blue container/inkwell one is very nice. It's always a good idea to buy more jewellry :)

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Xx
